Peanut Island in Florida

Peanut Island, located north of the Palm Beach Inlet in Florida, is a manmade island. The island got its “Peanut” name from a peanut oil shipping terminal that was supposed to be built there. The island is made up of dredged sand and was created over a span of 80 years.  Instead of becoming a shipping island, Peanut Island has become a first pick hangout for the locals of south Florida. This island is full of things to do from snorkeling to camping; it is the place to be for boaters. Peanut Island is close to other marinas such as Admirals Cove Marina and Jonathan’s Landing Marina.
