Honda Classic in PGA National

The Honda Classic first begun in the year of 1972 and was then known as the Jackie Gleason’s Classic and originally was played at the Inverrary Golf Club in Lauderhill, Florida. In 1984 the location was moved to the TPC Eagle Trace in Coral Springs, Florida, up until 1991. From 1992 to 1995, the tournament was held at the Weston Hills Golf & Country Club in Weston, Florida before returning to the Coral Springs courses once more. The Country Club at Mirasol in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida welcomed the event through 2006, before uprooting one last time in 2007 to PGA National Resort and Spa’s Championship Course. The Honda Classic at PGA National will take place Thursday March 1st thru Sunday March 4th. Being one of the most premier events on the PGA Tour you will see top players such as, Tiger Woods, Rory Mcllroy, Rickie Fowler and Lee Westword compete for over $5.6 million dollars. This prime event will be held at the Championship Course at PGA National known for the “Bear Trap” holes 15-17 which are said to be the toughest 3 hole stretch on the PGA tour and designed by the infamous Jack Nicklaus. In 2011 we watched Rory Sabbatini capture his first victory in the PGA Tour since 2009. Now in 2012 with the course being stronger than ever, who will win?
