Stacy Lewis Headlines Solheim Cup Team
Just hours after Stacy Lewis became the first American golfer to win a major in 10 tries, the British Open champion received some more good news for her country.
For the second straight time, the Palm Beach Gardens resident and Medalist member will be representing the United States in the Solheim Cup. While there was not much doubt that she would make the team, her win at the LPGA British Open guaranteed her the top spot on the Solheim Cup points list.
Joining her on the American squad will be Paula Creamer, Cristie Kerr, Angela Stanford, Brittany Lincicome, Lexi Thompson, Jessica Korda, Brittany Lang, Lizette Salas, Morgan Pressel, and captain’s picks Michelle Wie and Gerina Piller. With an average age of 25.9 years old, it will be the youngest American team in the history of the event.
The Solheim Cup is the women’s equivalence to the President’s Cup on the men’s side and puts an American team against a team from Europe.
Hosted by Colorado Golf Club, the event will take place August 16-18. For more information on the Solheim Cup, visit www.solheimcup.com.
